Online community: Friend’s Corner

Online community: Friend’s Corner

Friend’s Corner is online social platform which provides a mode of interaction between people of different communities and societies. This social network has many features altogether at one place as it provides collaboration and communication between its users. Users need to sign up and then customize their account according to their desire.  Friend’s corner is friend of students as it contains all the material which is helpful for the development of their character building, contains study help materials and help solutions related to tough tasks in their study. Friend’s corner is a friend of business persons because it contains information related to all the students who are graduating from different universities so that they can get best from them for their job. Companies can post their post their new job ads and unemployed could find them and get new opportunities for their job.

Non Social benefits:

These benefits comes up for user with some form of value before gaining network benefits and this initiate when the first user startup. At Friend’s corner people can share their thoughts, can chat with others and make new friends. This also allows its users to post their pictures and share their events of life. Friend’s corner can be customized in such a as a little diary of a person and which contains his desires also and for fulfillment of those desires it has a ping system. That ping system is activated when users particular which are demand can be fulfilled easily.

Reducing initial cost:

Startup concerns are many but which intrigues most is largest cost of start-up. For this work distribution in a properly organized manner would be much of importance. This system development on startup requires 10 people who are geniuses in their work and could work for two years on the basics of Friend’s corner e.g. adding friends, adding job ads and management of each stuff, so the cost issue will be dependent upon their salaries and their style of working. A minimum estimate says that it could include ten thousand dollars and if security handling and innovation would be done than it must need more budgets. This budget could be reduced in to less than this but it mostly depends upon the team which is developing the system and their mode of working but this is indeed a larger social network which would cost much more than the required setup.

Attracting early adopters:

Early adopter is a challenge because they are the pioneer who gave their time for the evaluation and startup of service and other got attracted by their time and importance. These early adopters needs some extra benefits for their attraction and encouragement so Friend’s corner provides initial seeding and tutorial help and information about the usage of platform. Platform offers coupons and vouchers to the early users and different types of surprise gifts.

Summary and issues:

This system has larger expectation for success because it involve many innovative plan and if they are tackled in a nice way this would results in a best social networking site which tackles problem from kitchen to office and renders interest of everyone. It can have many social issues people can make fake friends and can make misuse of your provided information.

Leveraging the long Tail

The term “Long Tail” has been defined by Anderson as a curve of statistics depicting benefits that website based organizations with large amount of products have, apart from traditional retail stores of brick and mortal with restricted space in shelves for extensive markets. The long tail theory dictates that our economy and culture is shifting increasingly away from a hub on comparatively less number of “hits” (conventional markets and products) at the head towards tail constituting large amount of niches. "As the costs of production and distribution fall, especially online, there is now less need to lump products and consumers into one-size-fits-all containers. In an era without the constraints of physical shelf space and other bottlenecks of distribution, narrowly-targeted goods and services can be as economically attractive as mainstream fare".  (Anderson, 2004).

The concept of long tail has laid emphasis on content that has less popularity and that cannot be acquired with an ease due to physical restriction such as space within the shelf (Porter, 2005). “Leveraging the long tail” focusing on generic product’s extreme popularity which are convenient to access on internet. As such products are sold in greater volume; their strength is leveraged to reveal more peculiar products of niche market which are having less popularity. The long tail’s beauty is that there is large number of niche products which covers up greater space on internet. With infinite space on shelf, low material cost and courtesy of internet production, it has now been realized by businesses that it is all about matter of awareness and exposure.

Users of eBay are allowed to list any of the products on sale having minimum cost and fuss. All of the company’s items are catered, permitting for restricted listings that ultimately provide greater level of facilitation to countless base of products.  Customers gets attracted towards products of eBay due to low prices and it also provides its customers with an opportunity to buy outright or win an auction, by the probability of searching that product which they cannot sort out at any other place. Hits are being delivered by eBay to niches by initial clientele drawing with comparatively competitive pricing for generic, popular products.
eBay has developed three essential long tail forces of driving . These include;
  • ·         They permit any of the products to be sold (extending the tail to largest possible level).
  • ·         No requirement of physical shop exists, which substantially reduces consumption cost.
  • ·      Associating products with each other through reviews of user enhances the overall rate of profitability.

It is all about what and how eBay performs its functions, providing customers with cost effective solutions for approaching niche market. Self service of customer, according to my opinion is superior source that must have to be utilized by technologies of web 2.0, specifically when market’s long tail is to be reached.

Software Above the Level of a Single Device

Even those individuals who are unknown with the process of application working would admit that applications which are restricted to an individual device are of low worth as compared to those which are modelled across numerous platforms. In pervasive era of computing, the personal desktop computer is no more considered as the only source of getting connected to the internet. Hence, it has given rise to millions of equipments and devices in all sizes and shapes that can be attached to the internet. The entire concept of this basic phenomenon is that applications of web should be customized to meet the requirements of single device by laying emphasis on most essential feature of service and then by making use of available resources, customization of device is carried out. By following such pattern, the application can develop tailored and rich service that can be consumed effectively without the requirement for personal desktop computer.
The advantages of ‘Software Above the Level of a Single Device’ includes:
  • New open markets.
  •  Approach application at any time and at any place.
  • Capability for context and location awareness.

iTunes
One of the effective examples for software above the level of single device is iTunes. iTunes are basically digital proprietary application of media player, which is utilized for playing and organizing video and music files on PC or Mac, which is then connected to Apple TV, iPad or iPhone. The application performs its function in appropriate way that ultimately breaks up the gap present between massive back end of web and handheld equipment, with PC playing the role of control station and local cache. Although iTunes was not the initial service of such kind, large numbers of attempts were made to bring content of web to devices that were highly portable in nature.

iTunes has been considered as highly successful application which was designed initially to span different kind of devices. Therefore, different services of iTunes had extended their services among large number of other devices, which clearly demonstrates that personal desktop computer is no more considered as only device for accessing the applications of internet. Hence, if the application is developed for PC only, then it’s worth is comparatively low than applications that extend into various platforms. In the end, it is essential to elaborate that main objective for any of the web 2.0 application designer must be to develop useable and efficient application for services of internet across numerous different platforms so that technology limits should get a push towards greater advancement.

Web 2.0, Innovation in Assembly

Web 2.0, Innovation in Assembly

Being the greatest online community of video on planet which permits users from different parts of the world to watch and share videos of varying natures, YouTube is considered as a best example for Innovation in Assembly. Permitting users that might include teenager or CEO of a certain company, Web 2.0 technologies can now enable them all to share and upload video clips with other members of society. Innovation in Assembly calls for the ability of a user to edit required piece of information on page of YouTube through an effective method of API (Application Programming Interface). It allows users to integrate functionality and video content of YouTube into device, application or certain website. The essential advantage that companies get by using strategy of Web 2.0 platform is that it allows organizations to acquire idea that how few services are attached and used to other applications by making use of API.

Web 2.0 is the modern form of networking technology as it correlates to the initial time period of the Web technology, defined by better user collaboration and interactivity, greater universal connectivity of web and upgraded channels of communication. An important change between the classical World Wide Web and Web 2.0 is larger association among the users of Internet, content enterprises and providers. Wikis are user friendly websites, through which users can contribute and edit content of site and it also help users to collaborate the data. The expanding popularity of cloud computing, Software as a Service and web apps  has increased to a substantial level as compared to locally-installed services and plans. Web 2.0 provides a deeper insight for innovation in assembly. Nomadicity, also known as mobile computing, is basically using Web 2.0 technology which has tendency to link users from anywhere. Mash-ups: different applications and pages of network that accommodate integral aspects from different sources two or more.

Through innovation in assembly, the idea of communal networking has gained extensive level of popularity. It basically entails for the use of developing the number of civil contacts by making connections through users. It assimilates different system of multimedia and call activities which are being composed by a user for both social purposes and business. Web 2.0 technology promotes the collaborative allocation of content formulated among one or more appropriate topic or theme. Such king of Web sites include InstagramReddit, Pinterest and Digg.

The amount of sharing and collecting data also raises concerns about security and privacy. Usually the technologies used in bringing web 2.0 are affluent technologies; some of them are Java Script, Microsoft Silverlight and Adobe Flash.  Applications of Web 2.0 are generally based on the dispersed downloading procedure that made Bit Torrent prosperous. Manufacturing 2.0 takes common Web 2.0 services and consolidates them into each one step of production and advancement. Most company 2.0 users use a sequence of homegrown technologies, blogs, social collaborative tools and social networking which promotes the element of innovation in assembly.

Harnessing Collective Intelligence

Web 2.0, Harnessing Collective Intelligence

From Amazon and Google to craigslist, eBay and Wikipedia, it has been observed that value of data has been managed by software, but it was co created for connected users of community. Since that time, new and powerful platforms like Twitter, Facebook and YouTube have demonstrated that similar insight in advanced manner. Web 2.0 is all about harnessing collective intelligence. The Web is no longer considered as a set of static HTML pages that explain something valuable in world. Increasingly, world of web-everyone and everything in the world casts a shadow of information, a data aura which when processes and captured effectively provides mind bending and extraordinary opportunity implications.
Web 2.0 is basically the concept which is extensively used for describing large number of applications and web sites that permit any user to develop and share material or information online. An essential factor of technology is that it permits individuals to communicate, collaborate, share and develop essential information. Web 2.0 technology varies from other kinds of websites as skills of publishing or designs of web are not needed in it to participate, thus it provides convenience and comfort for people to publish and collaborate their activities or tasks to rest of the world. The nature of Web 2.0 technology makes it popular and easy method for transmitting information either to a large group of audience or to selective group of individuals. Two of the famous Web 2.0 sites include YouTube which is used for watching videos and Flicker which is used for creating and posting photographs. An individual profile can also be created by users where they can list down their famous videos or photos. Users are capable to comment and rate on photos or videos and give feedback to users and other creators.
Applications of collective intelligence rest upon responding, understanding and managing large number of data that has been generated by user in real time. The emerging sub systems of emerging operating system of internet include recognition of places, products and people and meaning of skeins that associate them together. This results in development of levers which provides a competitive edge to Intel Inside. Data is basically “Intel Inside” of upcoming generation for different applications of computer.
Today, a realization has been created that such insights were not moving in a right direction but were practically being implied at specific locations that were only imagined previously in last few years. The revolution of smart phones has shifted web technology to pockets from desks. Applications of collective intelligence are not particularly driven by keyboard typing which was a traditional method used by human beings. Our cameras and phones are now transformed into ears and eyes for various applications, location sensors and motion that provide us information about how fast we are moving, on which things we are looking at and where we are present. Data is being acted upon, presented and collected in real time. The participation scale has enhanced by sequence of magnitude.
